It is our great pleasure on behalf of the Conference Organising Committee to invite you to attend the 6th International Conference on PBL in Dentistry, which will take place from 13 to 15 November 2009 in the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Hong Kong.

Problem-based learning (PBL) is an increasingly used approach to teaching and learning in dentistry, as it allows students to acquire and retain knowledge effectively, develop good learning habits, and foster teamwork skills—all qualities of a good dentist.

The 6th International Conference on PBL in Dentistry will provide a forum for researchers, educators, and health care professionals to share their latest evidence, practices, and experiences in PBL pedagogies included in various dental curricula worldwide.

The Faculty of Dentistry at The University of Hong Kong is particularly pleased to host this event, because the conference’s planning and organisation were initiated as part of the Faculty’s celebrations in 2008 to commemorate 10 years of a fully integrated PBL curriculum in our undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree programme.

Hong Kong is a metropolis full of energy and fascination, and we have included an exciting social programme for conference delegates and accompanying persons. The combination of a magnificent skyline, diverse cuisine, unique history, a rich culture, and contemporary technology will make for a memorable experience.

We look forward to seeing you in Hong Kong in November 2009!
